Here, I want to introduce my favorite book --- The Old Man and the Sea. I believe there's a great number of people have heard this famous novel, and maybe learned from it a lot like me. This book comprises many significant lessons of life.
This story is based on the real story. It talks about Cuban fisherman Santiago who had gone eighty-four days without taking a fish, and finally landed an extremely big marlin alone. He killed it and tied to the side of his skiff. Unfortunately, he and his big fish has been attacked repeatedly by shark in the way back, and almost there was only an enormous fish skeleton left. When the old man confronted the fierce shark without nothing after his stick lost, knife snapped, hitting the shark with helm by virtue of his heroic will, firm determination and tenacious vitality. Nothing can break his courage and perseverance. As the author written:" But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
This book taught me how to face fear when I'm worried about the uncertain future, " Only I have no luck any more. But who knows? Maybe today. Every day is a new day. It is better to be lucky. But I would rather be exact. Then when luck comes you are ready." And it also let me get over plenty of failures, "The thousand times that he had proved it meant nothing. Now he was proving it again. Each time was a new time and he never thought about the past when he was doing it."
People should not be afraid of difficulties and sacrifice, but in face of danger without timid, and do not retreat...
If you haven't read this book, enjoy it now! I believe you'll learn a lot from this novel.
